• Goose Hunting with the Wrecking Crew - Early Season

  Team WC with 19!  This September weather has been brutaly hot and really tested our endurance and love for the sport. Though, with plenty of crackers, gatorade, and bug spray, we've managed to do pretty good this season. We were able to get some more youth interested in the sport of waterfowl hunting while having their parents spending more time in sporting good stores, purchasing their needs, and some of their wants! We worked with them in the field, discussing firearm safety, decoy placement, conservation, and of course "calling". • Schofield's Waterfowl Day

  Schofield’s Ace Hardware in Florence, SC had their annual “Waterfowl Day” this past Saturday, and team Wrecking Crew (Ty Parker, Justin Thomas, Blake and I) supported their event along with having a Meat Duck Calling Contest for the youth and adults. We brought our WC1 Xpress Boat powered by Gator-Tail 35, to use as a calling stage for the contestants.  The kids really had a blast with the decoy display, layout blinds, and being able to step up in our Xpress boat.  We tried to simulate a real hunt as much as possible and still have fun.   We had three calling contests: JR, Intermediate, and Adult contests, which Schofield’s donated lots of great prizes for the winners and all of the youth received gift cards for participation.  Also, for the adults, Schofield’s offered a $20 gift card just for entering and how cool was that? • Getting ready for the season

  It?s that time of year again. The sun is hot, the days are long, and the start of hunting season is still a couple of months away.  Now is the time that I like to start scouting and finding out where the deer are in my area.  In some instances this can be a difficult task, but I do a few things to try to make this task easier.  One of the biggest problems I face is trying to find new stand locations for the fall.  I know that some of my favorite spots will produce deer just as they have in previous seasons, but it seems that every time I am in the woods I often wonder what is going on in the next section of woods over from my stand.  There are so many good places to hunt that I wish I could sit in all of them at the same time, but obviously that?s not possible!  I choose the stand that I think gives me the best chance for action and I hope I ...
