  If you’ve been a member of WeHuntSC.com for any amount of time then you know that change is somewhat constant. As technology evolves and new functionality becomes available I’m constantly working on and tweaking something with the site. Well the time came again where the site needed to be upgraded, updated, and leverage some new functionality. What’s New? This update brings some enhancements that you will see and some that you won’t. • Mineral Sites

  In this blog series we?re looking at concepts, practices, and approaches that can aid in managing game in a hunter?s area. We?ve looked at food plots, selective harvest,deer surveying, and herd balance already in this series and in this entry we'll look into the concept of "mineral sites". Mineral sites, in many cases, are one of the most overlooked and underutilized parts of a game management strategy.  Mineral sites provide deer with great sources of vitamins and nutrients that they need throughout the year. We put in a lot of work creating food plots and we're selling ourselves short if we don't compliment them with mineral sites. Mineral sites are not too difficult to create and can pay big dividends in the long run. Mineral sites provide similar benefits as food plots in that they help increase deer health which in turn helps them better survive the rut and the winter. • Site update, Snow in the upstate, + Poison Ivy

  You probably noticed, but I did officially update the site this past Friday.  I feel the updates were much needed and greatly enhanced the site.  Without boring you with a bunch of tech-talk, it was a long and tedious process to get all the new modules implemented and successfully move everything to a new host.  This process didn?t go without some hiccups and we may still experience a few more bumps in the road, but for the most part I think we?re good to go.  So, if you come back to the site and it?s crashed, just know that I?m working on it and that I am backing up the site at regular intervals.  I still have some pretty big updates to come to the photo/video gallery modules and I?m looking into a few more things to add to the site.  Keep in mind that I built the site not knowing what the response would be from hunters around the state and since the start in September we?ve had over 50,000 pages views from 43 states & more than ...

• Site Traffic During Turkey Season

  If you read these blogs then you know that we frequently monitor the site traffic to see what is going on with the metrics and to monitor our growth.  We try to give periodic reports of site metrics to let readers and site visitors see who else is checking things out in South Carolina. Turkey season did show growth in hits and we?re happy about that.  From April 1 ? April 30th, in South Carolina, we had 987 visits from 60 different cities.  The image below will give you a feel for the spread of hits that we received from South Carolinians. On a national level we received 1,480 visits via 33 states, which is pretty good for just one month.  It seems that others around the country are interested in what?s going on with the hunters of South Carolina! • Links, Your Sites & Ours

  As this season kicks off, I wanted to write a post about getting your links and information on our site.  We?ve had inquiries from various individuals, groups, and organizations about getting their links on our site. Aligning with the underlying principles of this site, we strive to share information for, with, and between hunters in South Carolina.  So, if you are a hunting guide, deer processor, taxidermist, or a member of a group with a just cause, we will gladly post your information on our site.  Just email it over and we?ll get it up with relative speed.  WeHuntSC.com does not endorse one service over the other, but rather aims to get information out there so hunters can have access to it. • Competition Rule Updated

  We?ve received some feedback from various individuals here on the NC line and we are listening and adjusting!  We are changing the ?You must be from SC? rule to ?You must have a valid SC hunting license?.  Now all the NC hunters across the line can quit giving us a hard time! Initially we decided to say that winners should reside in SC, but after hearing some other perspectives, it makes sense to change this rule.  As you may or may not know, Pageland is up here right on the NC line and we border-hop a lot?and so do some of our neighbors from NC.  We go there for the benefits of the city and they come down for the benefits of the country.  If you head north from Pageland you start to see less trees and begin to see more concrete as you near the sprawling greater Charlotte area.  There are many hunters who live in NC who come down south to hunt.  I imagine this may be the case for hunters from other states traveling to SC to hunt!  Now all the ...
