We are excited to announce that we are hosting the first annual WeHuntSC.com predator competition! South Carolina?s first predator competition is made possible due to some great sponsor donations and enthusiasm from some local predator hunters. We continue to push to accommodate all hunters and species and this is another step in that direction.
The winner of the predator competition will receive some great prizes from our sponsors:
In the first year of this competition we are only going to have 1 winner who will take home all prizes, but in future years we are working to have first, second, third, and ?big dog? winners. In short, as we grow we will continue to expand the prize levels.
Since there is no exact season for hunting coyotes, this competition is structured somewhat differently than our other competitions. This competition will take place over one weekend and will culminate in a ?check-in? at the Sportsman?s Warehouse in Columbia, SC. The competition will not require any posting of pictures to the web site. Hunters can hunt in teams of 3 or less and the winner will be chosen based on a scoring system where coyotes, bobcats, and foxes bring in different amounts of points. See the competition rules & regulations for more info.
Also, YOU MUST SIGN UP BEFORE THE COMPETITION STARTS TO BE ELIGIBL E TO PARTICIPATE! So be sure to register your team! If you have any questions regarding participating or sponsoring this competition, please contact Chip Humphries at [email protected].
We hope to see you at the check-in!
Regards, Clint

SEE THE RULES to find out more information about how the competition works. The most important thing you need to remember is to HAVE THE DATE IN THE PICTURE!
We?d like to give a big thanks to WinnTuck, Lodge Creek Calls, & Hobo Calls for making the competition possible.

Clint
We?ve received some feedback from various individuals here on the NC line and we are listening and adjusting! We are changing the ?You must be from SC? rule to ?You must have a valid SC hunting license?. Now all the NC hunters across the line can quit giving us a hard time!
Initially we decided to say that winners should reside in SC, but after hearing some other perspectives, it makes sense to change this rule. As you may or may not know, Pageland is up here right on the NC line and we border-hop a lot?and so do some of our neighbors from NC. We go there for the benefits of the city and they come down for the benefits of the country. If you head north from Pageland you start to see less trees and begin to see more concrete as you near the sprawling greater Charlotte area. There are many hunters who live in NC who come down south to hunt. I imagine this may be the case for hunters from other states traveling to SC to hunt! Now all the out-of-state hunters can compete in the competitions?just be prepared to show your SC license, should you win anything!
AND REMEMBER? PUT THE DATE IN THE PIC!
The WeHuntSC.com team is excited to announce that Thermacell is sponsoring this year?s ?Turkey Video Hunt of the Year Competition?. If you hunt turkeys in South Carolina and don?t know about Thermacell, then you need to be introduced? that is unless you just like to get bitten by mosquitoes. Thermacells are a must have to hunt in any warm weather period of the year. We use them during turkey season and early parts of deer season.
This year Thermacell is releasing a new product called the Thermacell lantern which is what the competition will get along with a thermacell! Here is an excerpt from Thermacell?s web site about their newly released lantern:
The Outdoor Lantern has many updated features: eight LEDs offer twice as much light as earlier ThermaCELL models; the easy-grip handle makes the lantern easy to carry or hang, and the lantern weight, at under a pound, makes transport a breeze. In addition, the lantern and mosquito repellent can be used separately or together. ?We have created a more rugged lantern for outdoor enthusiasts who want a portable, light-weight solution to mosquitoes. By offering customers a dual function lantern that has a highly effective repellent as well as illumination options, we are making outdoor activities safer and more enjoyable,? said Bill Schawbel, president of The Schawbel Corporation. The ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern operates on a single butane cartridge, which heats a mat releasing allethrin, a synthetic copy of a natural insecticide found in pyrethrum flowers, creating a 15 x 15 foot comfort zone. Each repellent mat provides up to four hours of protection and each butane cartridge provides up to 12 hours of operation. The new ThermaCELL Outdoor Lantern features:
Eight LED lights, with two illumination settings
Twice as much light as previous ThermaCELL lanterns
Up to 98% protection from mosquitoes, black flies and no-see-ums
15 x 15 foot comfort zone
Easy grip handle
Rugged outdoor structure
Lightweight - 13oz
Mosquito repellent operates on a single butane cartridge
Light operates on four AA batteries (not included)
Available February 2010

This past weekend some of the WeHuntSC.com team members + a friend of mine from Finland got together and went to see our 2009 Deer hunting competition winners. This proved to be a long day as our winners were from Patrick, Columbia, & Aiken. It was good to get out and meet some new people and see some of South Carolina. A lot of times we are stuck behind computers so it was a good change of pace to get out and hear the winners? stories and get a different perspective.
